Immunogenicity of recombinant hepatitis B vaccine in thalassemic children.
نویسندگان
چکیده
The plasma derived vaccine for hepatitis B became commercially available in 1982 but its availability was limited. The new generation of hepatitis B vaccine (recombinant rDNA yeast derived) can be produced in greater quantities at a comparable cost. Recombinant HBV vaccine given in infancy is highly immunogenic. Most infants develop antibody titre well above 10 m1U/ml, the level associated with seroprotection(3,4).

IMMUNOGENICITY OF HEPATITIS B VACCINE IN MULTI - TRANSFUSED THALASSEMIC PATIENTS WITH AND WITHOUT HEPATITIS C INFECTION: A COMP ARA TIVE STUDY WITH HEAL THY CONTROLS
Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is highly prevalent in thalassemic patients, and this may decrease the serum antibody response to hepatitis B virus (HBV) vaccine. There is also some alteration of the immune system in multi-transfused thalassemic patients, as a consequence of iron overload. We investigated whether HCY infection may reduce the effectiveness of HBY vaccine in multi - transf...

Background: Following WHO recommendation, HBV vaccination has been integrated into EPI program in Iran since 1996. Objective: To evaluate the immunogenicity and protective effect of HB vaccine (recombinant Heberbiovac ,Cuba ) in vaccinated children and adults . Methods: A total of 542 cases (340 children and 202 adults) were vaccinated using a three-doses schedule of zero, one and six month. ...

Objective: To compare immunogenicity of a recombinant hepatitis B (HB) vaccine in two groups of neonates born in two cities of Iran with different geographic and ethnic backgrounds. Materials and Methods: Ten micrograms of a recombinant HB vaccine was administered under field condition to Iranian healthy neonates at 0, 1.5 and 9 months intervals. The subjects consisted of two groups of 290 an...
متن کاملEvaluation of Thimerosal Removal on Immunogenicity of Aluminum Salts Adjuvanted Recombinant Hepatitis B Vaccine
Thimerosal, which is approximately 50% mercury by weight is a preservative widely used in vaccines since the 1930’s. It meets the requirements for a preservative as set forth by Pharmacopeia challenge test and has been shown to be effective against a broad spectrum of pathogens. In July 1999, the Public Health Service agencies and vaccine manufacturers agreed that thimerosal should be redu...
متن کاملDetermination of Hepatitis B Surface Antibody Titer in Vaccinated Children with Major Thalassemia in Kerman-Iran
Background: Thalassemia patients are more susceptible to hepatitis than the normal population due to the frequent blood transfusions. Objective: To determine the immune response of children with major ß-thalassemia, by measuring anti-hepatitis B surface antibody (anti-HBs Ab) following the last HBV vaccine injection. Methods: This study was carried out on 215 thalassemic children who received t...
